Health & Therapy Team

Health & Therapy Team

Interdisciplinary Team Structure

We could not support our learners without the core interdisciplinary team that we have within the school to support us.

Based within the school, a therapy and nursing team led by a Health & Therapy Team Leader, along with her team of School Nurses and Health Care Assistants (HCAs) provide full time health cover. This team is provided by the local Health Authority. This team consist of;

Nurses

The Nursing Team support our learners with learning disabilities and associated additional health care needs within the special school setting.

The service is provided by a multi-skilled team of registered nurses and health care assistants. The team work in partnership with parents and carers, education teams, children’s community nurses, continuing care, social care and the wider multi-professional team to enable children and young people to access the curriculum.

Occupational Therapist

We have a team of dedicated Occupational Therapist, provided by the local Health Authority Trust who liaise with class teachers to provide assistance with individual learners needs. They are located in the Therapy Office at Sherwood Park and their team leader would be a good first point of call if you have any queries in this area.

Physiotherapy

There is also a dedicated team of Physiotherapist who will devise care plans for individual learners, advice on motor programs for learners and arrange orthotic provision for our learners. They are located in the Therapy Office at Sherwood Park and their team leader would be a good first point of call if you have any queries in this area.

Speech & Language Therapy

Our dedicated team of Speech & Language Therapist will see learners for assessment, to give advice on communication, language development and feeding for learners. Therapists will work alongside teachers in the classroom to offer advice and support.
